The threat assessment tabletop exercise is designed to offer the Safe & Supportive Schools Program Teams (threat assessment teams) an opportunity to clarify roles and responsibilities and to identify mitigation, preparedness and response needs. The exercise outcome results in developing an action plan for continued improvement regarding threat response. The exercise will walk a team through screening a reported concern, fact finding investigation, and conducting the threat assessment. The final phase of the exercise requires team members to determine where the individual is on the pathway to violence, and the level of threat the person poses to self and others. Once this determination has been made the team develops an intervention and case management strategy to ultimately remove the individual off the pathway to violence, and manage the individual moving forward. This exercise process works best with the entire threat assessment team present.
