Are you experiencing a significant increase in behavior concerns and want to learn more about underlying causes and research-based interventions to meet student needs? Then this is the training for you!
Day 1: Dr. Daniel Galdeano will present on Multi-tiered System of Supports (MTSS): An overview of a tiered based system.
Multi-tiered system of support (MTSS) is a framework that focuses on intervention best practices within the areas of academics, behavior and social/emotional support that targets the whole child. The goal of MTSS is to identify students who are struggling in academics, behavior, or both, and provide interventions early and often to assist the student in closing the achievement gap and to curb discipline concerns in the classroom. In this training, participants will understand the importance of selecting a qualified problem-solving team, assess data to drive instruction and promote collaboration among all stakeholders.
Day 2: Dr. Rebecca Lopez, Discipline and Behavior Consultant, will present on Reaching Diverse Learners with Challenging Behaviors in the Classroom.
Are you having student behavior challenges and are not sure what to do next to turn things around? Come join us in this session where we will 1) compare and contrast information, impact, and interventions for diverse learners, 2) consider the significance of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES), resiliency, and Social Emotional Learning (SEL), 3) explore trauma informed care, rituals, and routines, and 4) reflect on de-escalation strategies that work to improve outcomes. Walk away with strategies and interventions to implement the very next day.
Day 3: Cindi Bowling, Discipline and Behavior Consultant, will present on Increasing Positive School Climate by Building Positive Behavior Supports.
Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is an evidence-based tiered framework that can be integrated within a multi-tiered system of support and used to improve and support systems that affect student success. Building a strong framework can support all stakeholders. During the session, we will discuss the importance of building and sustaining a strong foundation, as well as, focus on the integration of PBIS and Restorative Discipline Practices to help decrease disciplinary removals from the classroom setting.
