Poetry, and the love of it, begins at birth. The first pulses of our heartbeats are our bodies first poems. Unfortunately, we've grown too good at making poetry a silo-ed unit filled with perfunctory forms that become nothing more than fill-in-the-blank worksheets. Our students learn to loathe "the poetry unit", and as a consequence poetry itself. But, what if there were a different way?
