Low Incidence Disabilities
Active Learning Principles for Students with Multiple Disabilities

ESC-20 provides training, technical assistance, and resources that support programs serving students with low incidence disabilities (severe and profound cognitive disabilities, medically fragile, deaf/blind).

Important Session Information:

Active Learning is an approach that can be used with all learners, but is most effective for those who have significant multiple disabilities and are functioning in the 0-48 month developmental level.  The Active Learning approach can be used with individuals with various visual conditions, such as CVI (Cortical Visual Impairment) and ONH (Optic Nerve Hypoplasia), as well as with those who are identified as deafblind or medically fragile.  For more information about Active Learning, please visit www.activelearningspace.org.

Does this information describe any of the students you serve?  Are you unsure about how to implement an educational program for them that's meaningful? Participants in this session will utilize modules as well as in-person sessions to build skills regarding the implementation of Active Learning strategies for students with Multiple Disabilities and have the opportunity to continue their learning through additional online modules.
