Come to ESC-20 for a Back to School Science Boot Camp. This day of learning will take place in two 3-hour sessions with lunch provided between sessions.
9:00 - 12:00 (Frio/Kendall): Laboratory Safety - time to get back to the basics of Science Lab Safety. You will be actively participating and discussing the requirements needed to create a safer environment in your science lab or classroom. Topics will cover prevention of lab accidents, safety demonstrations for student understanding, correct PPE for the right lab, safety equipment, and storage/disposal of chemicals. This session will be presented by Raul Perez of Ward's Scientific.
1:00 - 4:00 (Zavala): Sticky Vocabulary Strategies - you will learn effective strategies that support vocabulary development and retention. Explore the relationship between reading comprehension and vocabulary growth and strategies that builds vocabulary through reading. This session will be presented by Lisa Soll, ESC-20 Science Consultant.
