Are you a new or second or third year teacher who is excited about their journey of educating the next generation but needs some support? Join us for our enriching mentoring Social Studies Teacher Academy designed to equip you with the knowledge, skills, and support you need to thrive in the classroom. Our session, "2nd & 3rd Year Social Studies Teacher Academy" is tailored towards new social studies educators to provide valuable & practical strategies, resources, & guidance for effective lesson planning and a productive learning environment.
Session Objectives:
- Effective Instructional Design - We will establish effective lesson design around an instructional model that engages students in formative assessments and aligns with the STAAR Redesign using the TEKS Resource System.
- Technology Integration - We will embrace technology to enhance our teaching methods, and create 21st Century learners.
- Data - We will utilize data when appropriate to target or enhance areas of need.
- Cross-curricular - We will make cross-curricular connections and provide several resources to easily implement the work.
- Confidence & Support - Through this cohort you will meet others who are learning along with you and you will build a strong network of peers and mentors.
Who should attend?
- New teachers and teachers with less than 3 years of teaching experience.
- This session is only for teachers of TEKS Resource System Districts.
- Paraprofessionals who are in the process of getting certified.

This cohort is a 4-day Cohort starting in September 2023 thru March 2024 supporting new 4th-12th grade social studies teachers of 1-3 years of experience.
