How to Support Productive Struggle in the Secondary Math Classroom
ESC-20 provides professional development and technical assistance to support educators with implementation of the Mathematics TEKS by analyzing data to enhance instructional practices to meet the needs of students, and provides targeted support to reach campus and district goals.
Important Session Information:
Whether you are following TEKS Resource, Carnegie, or another state aligned curriculum, productive struggle is a researched based instructional strategy. This session takes a look at what productive struggle looks like in a math classroom. We will focus on content traditionally in the second semester (Grades 6 - Algebra 1). Major topics include: laying the foundation, establishing goals and selecting tasks, promoting and supporting struggle, and asking the appropriate questions.
