This session will provide participants a better understanding of dyslexia and instruction to support secondary students identified with this learning disability. Participants will engage with activities to enhance their understanding and knowledge of the unique needs of adolescents with dyslexia. In particular this session will address the following as it relates to students in middle and high school:
- Instructional Needs and Strategies
- Social and Emotional Problems Related to Dyslexia
- Self-Advocacy for Students
Audience: Dyslexia interventionists/therapists grades 6-12, special education teachers grades 6-12, general education teachers grades 6-12, reading specialists grades 6-12

Texas Dyslexia Identification Academy is an exciting new training initiative to help district and charter school teachers, administrators, dyslexia specialists, and assessment personnel with the challenges of identifying students with dyslexia. This training offers five modules where participants can customize their professional development path by attending one or any combination of the five.
