This workshop will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 11:10 a.m. and will be provided by Karen O'Neil, M.A., CCC-SLP. During this session, we will examine the ASHA Code of Ethics as well as the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation Code of Ethics as it applies to school based Speech-Language Pathology practice with examples of possible violations. The processes involved in an ethics complaint will be reviewed as well as the potential impact of an investigation or complaint on a license and ASHA certification.
No partial credit will be provided. Participants must attend the full course in order to receive credit. You must be registered by midnight on 8/23/2023 to receive the registration link.
Learning objectives:
- Participants will be able to identify ASHA’s 4 principles of ethics and how they are applicable in schools
- Participants will identify the most common ethics violations in schools
- Participants will understand the process to report ethics violations at the state and federal level
- Participants will understand the potential ramifications to an ethics complaint and investigation
- Participants will demonstrate their knowledge on ethics through a survey/game show format
