Career & Technology Education (CTE)
CTE Classroom Management Series: An Overview of CTE Programming - CTE Career Cluster, Programs of Study, Accountability and Credentialing - For New and Veteran CTE Teachers and Administrators

CTE instruction aims at developing foundational skills, core workplace competencies, and specific skill competencies in various occupational areas. Internships, practicums, cooperative education, school-based enterprises, dual enrollment programs, and apprenticeships are a few venues that deliver CTE by providing meaningful opportunities for leaners to apply their academic and technical skills. We serve the career and education community through targeted support for CTE compliance, program development and implementation with rigor and relevancy; bridging with postsecondary education and industry partners to build a global workforce, quality education programs and 21st century learners.

Federal statute states - A Program of Study (POS) is a coordinated, nonduplicative sequence of academic and technical content at the secondary and postsecondary level that: Incorporates challenging state academic standards; Addresses academic, technical, and employability skills; Is aligned with the needs of industries in the state, regional, and/or local economy; Progresses in specificity (beginning with all aspects of industry and leading to more occupationally specific instruction); Has multiple entry and exit points that incorporate credentialing; and culminates in the attainment of a recognized postsecondary credential.

How does building programs of study, a requirement of federal law, impact data entered into PEIMS and therefore impact district accountability? We can help you and your district build a system for student success.
