The Literacy for Little Ones project was developed to support teams with early braille readers and those who have significant visual impairment. The training series for professionals and families provides evaluation and curricular tools and instructional and home strategies that help children grow in their gross and fine motor skills, concept development, language communication skills, and specific pre-braille literacy expertise. This training will focus on the same premise of the series in which participants will gain an understanding of the roles motor, concept development, early language, and early reading play in the foundation for literacy development in all children with visual impairments.
Objectives
Attendees will:
-Explain how motor skills, concept development, early language, and early reading and writing skills can support early literacy development for children aged 0-5 years.
-Identify evaluations and instructional resources which are appropriate for assessing and developing skills in the area of literacy.
