**NOTE: No partial credit will be provided for days 1 and 2. Day 3 attendance will be permitted with previous successful completion of both days of SBIEP Training. Please send an email to the contact listed below for day 3 only requests**

Days 1 and 2 are TEA vetted SBIEP Training. Day 3 provides hands on application and implementation support. No new or supplemental content is delivered on day 3.

The focus of this session is developing present levels of academic achievement and functional performance (PLAAFP) statements based on student data, drafting annual goals (academic and/or functional) including, if appropriate, goal objectives and collecting data for reporting progress. Participants will understand the importance of these components and how alignment results in an appropriate and ambitious individualized education program for students receiving special education and related services. The intended audience for this training is special education teachers, related service providers, and any other professional staff responsible for drafting a student’s IEP, including present levels of academic achievement and functional performance and measurable annual goals.

This training was created by the Child Find, Evaluation, and ARD Support Statewide Technical Assistance Statewide Initiative in collaboration with the Texas Education Agency with state and federal grants.

Day 1 will focus on foundational concepts for standards-based IEP development, student data collection and evaluation, and the development of Present Levels of Academic and Functional Performance Statements.  Emphasis will be placed on regulations and processes for implementation.

Day 2 emphasizes the process and essential components for writing IEP goals.  Both academic and functional goals will be highlighted.  In addition, requirements for IEP data collection and progress monitoring will be presented.

Day 3 is designed to allow participants the opportunity to put knowledge obtained in SBIEP training into practice through hands-on implementation and coaching, specifically targeting dyslexia and other reading disorders. Participants will need to bring all materials provided in both days of SBIEP training, as well as a current  sample PLAAFP and associated IEP goal(s) for at least one student on their caseload.
