With an emphasis on experiential learning, workshop participants will learn about effective instructional approaches including cooperative learning, online tutorials, and new strategies for engaging students who are deaf and hard-of-hearing in learning math. Topics explored include:
Using cooperative learning groups
Analyzing word problems
Engaging students in a flipped classroom
On-line resources on the DeafTEC website will be shared, including video modules for teaching math, practice problems, and signed math vocabulary.
Each participant leaves with a specific plan for implementing some of these techniques in their own classrooms.
