This is open to TEKS RESOURCE SYSTEM Districts interested in “Strengthening the 4^th and 7^th grade Social Studies” alignment of standards by joining our Social Studies cohort for the 2017-18 school year.  This cohort will require a commitment of five professional development days throughout the year and the commitment of vertical feeder patterns between 4^th and 7^th grade teachers.  In the five professional development days we will front load teaching strategies with a focus on literacy in the Social Studies classroom aligned to the content, context, and cognitive demand (rigor) of the TEKS for each unit in the TEKS Resource System. We will focus work on connecting instruction between 4^th and 7^th grade teachers to build capacity and close instructional gaps between the grade levels. Teachers will also have the opportunity to network across the region with other teachers.
