Important Session Information:

In this workshop we will discuss how to meet the language needs of English Language Learners by using strategies that will make content accessible for them. We will focus and explore the use of structured conversations, graphic organizers and cooperative learning to make lessons more meaningful and comprehensible for second language learners. Having a basic understanding of second language acquisition will help teachers make decisions on what kind of linguistic accommodations are needed for students to be successful, including using native language as support to bridge English acquisition. Develop ways to communicate effectively with your ELLs and their parents. Participants will leave with a menu of activities they could use right away in the classroom that will make learning fun and engaging.

Alicia Alvarez-Calderon is the presenter and will be delivering the session.
