G/T 6 hour update: Modification of Instruction for Gifted Students in the Accelerated Classroom (Grades 6-12)

The Gifted and Talented program at Education Service Center, Region 20 (ESC-20) promotes and supports the Texas State Plan for the Education of Gifted/Talented students through professional development and technical assistance. This is accomplished by advocating, designing and providing an array of learning experiences for teachers and administrators of gifted and talented students in order to enable them to provide a nurturing environment in which these students with special abilities, unique needs, and diverse backgrounds are recognized.

Important Session Information:

Students that receive G/T services in secondary (6-12) have many programs in which the services take place (AP, Pre-AP, Dual Credit, IB, Independent Study, CTE, etc..) The Texas State Plan requires us to accommodate and modify instruction for G/T students in accelerated courses (2.1C, 3.1C, 19 TAC §89.3) in a way that parents are aware of the opportunities in the classroom (19 TAC §89.3).  How can we ensure that we are meeting this expectation for our students in a way that does not seem like extra work?  Join us in a day in which you will analyze your current practices with opportunities to incorporate accommodations and modifications for our Gifted Learners in accelerated coursework.

NOTE: This session can count for a G/T Day 3, 4, Day 5 or 6-Hour Update if not previously taken
