Session Detail

Low Incidence Disabilities
Tactile Symbols

ESC-20 provides training, technical assistance, and resources that support programs serving students with low incidence disabilities (severe and profound cognitive disabilities, medically fragile, deaf/blind).

Important Session Information:

This is an introduction to Standard Tactile Symbols. Tactile symbols are representations, often parts of objects, attached to backgrounds, which are used by people who are blind and do not read braille. For some, they are stepping stones to braille, for others the symbols are alternatives to braille. During this session you will learn all about Tactile Symbols and have time to create your own student centered symbol set.
