Deaf and Hard of Hearing
Taking the Helm: Ethics in Educational Interpreting
ESC-20 provides training and technical assistance to programs serving students who are deaf or hard of hearing, including assisting programs meet the unique needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing across the continuum of placement options.

Important Session Information:
This session will introduce Demand-Control Schema and Role-Space, and their application to interpreting in the educational setting. Participants will analyze ethical situations and challenge the misconceptions of "that's not my role" and "it depends". The presentation will focus on Demand-Control Schema and the Proposed Constructs as developed by Robyn Dean and Robert Pollard, in conjunction with an introduction to Role-Space as developed by Robert Lee and Peter Llewellyn-Jones.
