Important Session Information:

The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) of 2004 mandates that each student who receives special education services have an Individual Education Program (IEP) that includes "appropriate measurable post-secondary goals" no later than the first IEP to be in effect when the student is 16 years old.

This session is open to all Districts and Charter schools and will include information regarding the state required elements of transition planning in Texas, which begins at age 14, as well as the IDEA mandates for transition. This session will discuss how to create a transition plan that is more than just a checkbox, but a plan to help the student meet their post secondary goals, and meet the transition criteria for State Performance Plan Indicator (SPP) 13.
