During this three-day virtual series, participants will be introduced to the basics of how children learn to read with a special emphasis put on supporting students with reading difficulties and disabilities. Participants will leave this training with an understanding of the 5 essential components of research based reading instruction and with practical application strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners.
Participants do not require any prerequisite content knowledge to benefit from this training.

Day 1: Phonemic Awareness and Phonics
- 9:00 am -10:30 am Phonemic Awareness
- 10:30 am - 1:00 pm: Independent Application Activity and Break
- 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm: Phonics
Day 2: Reading Fluency and Vocabulary
- 9:00 am -10:30 am: Fluency
- 10:30 am - 1:00 pm: Independent Application Activity and Break
- 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm: Vocabulary
Day 3: Reading Comprehension
- 9:00 am -10:30 am:Comprehension
- 10:30 am - 1:00 pm: Independent Application Activity and Break
- 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm: Specialization of Content Delivery and Participant Activity Presentations
Participants must attend all zoom sessions and complete all activities to receive credit for the course.
