Neuroscientists indicate that an educator's state of mind and presence are critical aspects impacting student learning and well-being. Mindfulness practice has been shown to help us and our students be present to the calm and joy in each and every moment of our lives. Discover how mindfulness isn't just another trend or buzzword. Learn about this practice with roots spanning thousands of years in this half-day retreat. We will bypass the jargon and hype associated with mindfulness to actually practice how to be present in your classroom and life with resilience and the capacity for calm. We'll participate in activities such as guided practice, mindful eating, mindful walking, and movements. Relevant studies and findings from neuroscience and how they both support and inspire this practice will be shared.
