Literacy development begins early on and lays the foundation for later success in school. Research has shown that oral language, phonological processing and print knowledge are strongly predictive of how well children will learn to read. The LETRS for Early Childhood Educators course provides teachers an understanding of the foundational skills young children need before learning to read and write. This interactive course will allow teachers to gain a better understanding of early literacy foundations while keeping in mind developmentally appropriate practice. This cohort will incorporate online modules along with face to face sessions that will support the teacher’s learning. Face to face sessions will provide teachers an opportunity to discuss and interact with content covered online prior to the session. Saturday sessions will provide opportunities for make and take as well as ways to differentiate to meet all student's needs.
