Speech-language pathologists, Diagnosticians and Licensed Specialists in School Psychology frequently perform their evaluation responsibilities (including planning, administering tests, interpreting results, and writing reports and recommendations) without input from each other. Yet results from each discipline offer the others insight into the individual student tested, informing recommendations for the ARD committee and planning of the most appropriate IEP goals. This session will focus on how SLPs, LSSPs, and Diagnosticians can incorporate social/emotional, cognitive, achievement, and communication evaluation information into their interpretations of FIE information. Case studies will demonstrate the application of evaluation results provided by LSSPs, Diagnosticians, and SLPs to the determination of an autism disorder.
Session learning objectives:
1. Identify relevant evaluation information from across special education evaluation personnel.
2. Discuss multi-disciplinary creation of FIE recommendations to the ARD committee.
3. Describe the impact of multi-disciplinary assessment on generating high quality PLAAFP statements and IEP goals.
