The ESC-20 School Safety Program provides training and technical assistance to school districts in the comprehensive development of school safety programs.
The training will include an overview of the Union Pacific Railroad Hazardous Materials Management team as well as how to contact the railroad. We will review information on how we work with local first responders, and how working as a team we can bring the incident to a successful conclusion. The course will also review the different types of railcars and all the possible hazards that could occur. There will be a section on locomotives that covers the various liquids on board, and locomotive fires. Finally, the course will discuss responding safely to an incident, hazards around the railroad right-of-way, where to find needed information, and how to better protect the students and staff.
