Professional development for school counselors is aligned with the Texas Model for Comprehensive School Counseling Programs and supports work in the four service delivery components: Guidance Curriculum, Responsive Services, Individual Planning, and System Support.

As awareness of eating disorders in children and adolescents increase, school professionals have a unique opportunity to promote health and healing at an early stage of the illness and perhaps even prevent its progression. This presentation will discuss the importance of challenging negative body messages, familiarize participants with common red flags of eating disorder development, and teach strategies for effective intervention with students and their families.
