Transdisciplinary Play-based Assessment-2 (TPBA-2)



ESC-20 provides resources, training and technical assistance for evaluators. Quarterly contact group meetings for LSSP’s and Educational Diagnosticians are also provided.
 


Important Session Information:


Transdisciplinary Play-Based Assessment-2 is a comprehensive, holistic functional assessment for young children from birth to six years of age. A transdisciplinary team that includes family members observes cognitive, sensorimotor, communication, and emotional and social development. This dynamic assessment process involves use of observational guidelines, age tables, and intervention planning tools.

Detailed Description of the Five-Day Online Format: This virtual training will consist of a two-hour zoom training each day on five days.  MWF in week one and TTH in week two.  This will be 10 hours of the total 12-hour training.  The other 2 hours will be planning and team discussion activities the participants will do on their own that will be explained and assigned on appropriate days.  The fourth day meeting will include watching a videotaped evaluation.

Participants will learn:

1.       Recall the procedures for engaging in Transdisciplinary Play-Based Assessments for children from birth to age 6 years.

2.       List the composition of the play-based assessment team and roles of the team members.

3.       Determine a child’s strengths, developmental levels, and eligibility for services by analyzing data from Transdisciplinary Play-Based Assessments.

4.       Summarize observation data and write meaningful recommendations for home and school.

5.       Write intervention plans with families included.

6.       How to document intervention needs.

7.       Intervention methods.

8.       Appropriate assessment methods for children age 2-6.

9.       Legal requirements for common EC eligibility categories.

Participants employed by Region 20 LEAs (district or charter) will each receive a copy of  the Transdisciplinary Play-Based Assessment and the Administration Guide for TPBA-2.

Approved TSHA CEs will be provided.
