Since 2018, the Texas Education Agency (TEA) has been responding to directives from US Office of Special Education Projects (OSEP) to modify targeted special education practices in Texas, some of which stand to impact evaluators such as Diagnosticians, Licensed Specialists in School Psychology, and Speech-Language Pathologists. This workshop will focus on publicly-available documents regarding the continuing conversation between OSEP and TEA as they discuss evaluation issues.
Participants will:
1.Describe the special education evaluation practices noted as requiring corrective measures in Texas public schools.
2. Identify corrective actions for evaluations that have been identified by TEA.
3. Discuss next anticipated steps in responding to the federal and state directives regarding special education evaluations in schools.
Presenters: Amanda Real, LSSP and Julia Eyer, CCC-SLP
This session has been approved by the Texas Speech and Hearing Association for 2 hours of continuing education credit.
