2021 Child Nutrition Summer Workshop Series: Reducing Sodium



ESC-20, Food and Nutrition Services provide training and technical assistance to local contracting entities in the operation and administration of Child Nutrition.
 


Important Session Information:


In school year 21-22, sodium requirements will be stricter, are you prepared? Join this reducing sodium class to learn how to be ready for lower sodium meals. Participants will identify the common sources of sodium in foods and learn about the impact and role of sodium in school nutrition program. Learn and understand how to read food labels, as well as smell and taste new spices. Discover how to build flavors while relying less on salt. Determine which foods provide high levels of sodium and the corresponding effect on health and wellness. Attendees will explore herbs, spices and other seasonings that can be used to flavor foods and replace sodium in the comfort of their own kitchen. 

Spanish interpreter will be available for this session.
