Spring 2022 WELLS-3: Working with English Language Learners



ESC-20 provides training and technical assistance for professionals serving student with dyslexia. Students with dyslexia usually experience difficulties with other language skills such as spelling, writing, and pronouncing words.

This is scheduled as a webinar session, and the Zoom link will be provided in the confirmation email you receive when you register.

The WELLS program is a transition to English program. It can help teachers, dyslexia specialists, special educators and speech and language therapists to provide a systematic and explicit 

approach for teaching English language and literacy skills to Spanish-speaking English 

language learners. The program addresses an evidence-based approach to literacy by including 

the 5 components of literacy.
 

Participants must bring the WELLS-4 Program Kit to the training. 

  • The first 40 participants who work for an LEA served by ESC Region 20 will received a FREE WELLS-4 kit. 
  • If you are outside of Region 20, please contact Claudia Trevino or Emily Hagan at Valley Speech Language & Learning Center to purchase the Esperanza materials, valleyspeechllc@att.net or (956) 504-2200.
