The2021-2022 Transition Webinar series includes 6 two-hour sessions throughout the school year:

October 13, 2021
Transition 101- Session 1 will cover a broad overview of the Texas Transition process.  We will discuss how transition starts form the transition assessment to the very end when a student graduates and receives the Summary of Performance. 

October 27, 2021
Transition Assessments: The First Step to the Transition Process:  This session will include assessing student transition needs, strengths, and references & interests.  Participants will be guided to develop appropriate IEP goals, post-secondary goals, courses of study, summaries of performance (SOP) and include local agencies.  Hands-on examples of select formal and informal assessment techniques/tactics will be provided using interactive activities. Several resources will be shared to help educators select an age appropriate transition assessment to support the students' post-secondary goals.

How to Effectively Write and Support Post-Secondary Goals in a Student IEP:  
This session will discuss how to create a transition plan that is more than just a checkbox.  Attend this webinar to learn how to take your transition plans to the next level of individualization by helping the student meet their post-secondary goals.  Content will also help bolster compliance to meet the transition criteria for State Performance Plan Indicator (SPP) 13.

Collaboration with Community Agencies: This webinar session will include speakers from the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) and Bexar County local authority Alamo Area Council of Governments (AACOG) to discuss the importance of long-term care support for students after FAPE in the public school system no longer applies.

January 12, 2022
Graduation for Students who Receive Special Education Services: This webinar session will provide a general overview of Texas Graduation Requirements, will special attention explaining the Graduation process for students who receive special education.  The session will cover graduation options when the student participates in IEP supports.   Come join us to learn more about the impact of modified curriculum, components of House Bill 165, and substitutions that are allowed for Languages other than English (LOTE) and Career & Technical Education (CTE).

Summary of Performance: 
The Summary of Performance, with the accompanying documentation, is important to assist the student in the transition from high school to higher education, training and/or employment. This session will help participants understand how the IEP is important to writing an effective SOP to help the student’s transition to the next level after they complete high school.
