Important Session Information:

Education Service Center, Region 20 (ESC-20) will be offering a unique training opportunity in the area of Augmentative & Alternative Communication (AAC) to support students with non-verbal and low-verbal disabilities, including students with Autism, Down Syndrome, Cognitive, and Orthopedic Disabilities. Ten teams each comprised of a classroom teacher, speech and language pathologist, and others will be selected to participate in a specialized grant program to develop a functional communication system for a student who is nonverbal or has limited language or unintelligible speech. This program will be utilizing LAMP Words for Life, a symbol-based, text to speech communication app based on the PRC Unity Language System, utilizing the iPad. As participants, each team (which must be comprised of at least two members, including the student's teacher and speech therapist) will receive an iPad and the LAMP Words for Life app. ** 25 hours CEU credit from TSHA pending approval.**

This year we will also be adding 2 virtual half day sessions (am and pm) for Paraprofessionals On October 27, 2021. (registration separate)

Interested individuals should contact Dana Frankland at dana.frankland@esc20.net to request an application packet.  Applications are due by September 8th and notification to the ten teams will be sent on September 11th.

All handouts will distributed via a link to a Google Drive sent to your email 1-2 days before the training so that you may have the option to print it prior to the training. Please bring your device if you choose to view the handouts electronically.
