Language impairments likely to impact a student’s ability to access the general education curriculum manifest in a wide range of types and severity levels, often producing different profiles at different ages. Specific formal and informal testing will be considered along with interpretation of findings and possible recommendations to the ARD Committee using case studies and hands-on practice of analyses.
Session Learning Objectives: The participants will
1. develop an evaluation plan for assessing language skills in a case study scenario,
2. identify resources for informal assessment of language strengths and weaknesses, and
3. interpret language assessment results to formulate a summary statement and recommendations to the ARD Committee.
