Participants are asked to bring a copy of the TEKS for the CTE course they wish to explore during this three-day summer splash workshop.
Participants will dive into designing effective instruction with the CTE TEKS using depth and understanding as we unpack the CTE Standards (AKA: The TEKS) for theparticular course the participant wishes to explore and unpack in this training.
In this workshop participants will:
- Have the opportunity to design a sample unit of study for their course
- Understand how their course builds upon the content of the previous course in the program of study
- Understand how their course prepares students for the content and standards in the next course in the program of study (scaffolding).
On day two, participants will design a YAG ("year at a glance”) calendar for their particular CTE course.Time permitting, participants will hear from experts on how to take the next step in the process to build an IFD (Instructional Focus Document) for their particular CTE course.
On day three, participants will be given the opportunity to work on their YAG (designed on day 2)and begin to develop some units for the next year. They will leave with a toolbox fullof materials and ready to begin the new year. Time permitting, participants may be able to workon more courses. Additionally, participants will have the opportunity to make copies, scan, and upload each other's work, giving them access to a ton of amazing work to use.
This three-day workshop is guaranteed to be a goldmine of activity.
