The Mayhem of Middle School: Supporting Our Adolescents Academically and Socially

AIS Professional Development

Important Session Information:

School Counseling Cooperative Members: $50

Target Audience: 6-8 school counselors

"It takes a special person to work at a middle school." Have you heard this before? It really does. Our 6th, 7th, and 8th graders are riding a daily rollercoaster of emotion and angst as their brains and bodies transition into the teen years. In this session, we will discuss adolescent mental health and social development, with guest speakers focusing on self-harm, substance use in kids age 11-14, evolving issues our LGBTQ+ students face, and tween/teen trends related to online safety. We also will look at academic preparation for high school, including College, Career, and Military Readiness (CCMR).

This session is in person. You will receive an email from Connect20 confirming your registration; please be sure to check your spam/junk email. If you do not receive an email confirmation, please call Central Registration at 210-370-5671 for assistance Monday-Friday from 8:00 AM-4:30 PM.
