Texas Education Code (TEC) 37.108(b) requires charters, and public school districts to conduct school safety audits of instructional and non-instructional facilities every three years. A safety and security audit provides an overview of areas that need improvement and those that are commendable. In addition to physically reviewing facilities, the process also includes a review of district/charter policies. This process utilizes the Texas School Safety Center, School Safety and Security Audit Guide as a frame of reference to conduct the audit. The presenter will provide information about constructing the auditing team, conducting the audit, writing the report, and reporting results required by current state statute.
