Speech-Language Pathology
Virtual: If Dismissal Is the Answer, What Questions Should We Be Asking?

ESC-20 provides training, technical support, resources and information about speech therapy for students who have communication disorders.

Use of Quality Data to Drive Instruction

Important Session Information:

One of the most complex situation for a school-based speech-language pathologist is determining when to dismiss a student from services, particularly when the data is not clear and concise. We will explore how to better determine the reasons for lack of progress, how to write SMART goals for good data collection that will lead to clearer, concise outcomes, and how to explain the dismissal to staff and parents for a more collaborative, mutually understood conversation.
