HB 1952 Student Discipline and the Law



This self-paced course fulfills the House Bill 1952 training for school administrators that is required at least every three years. The course reviews the legal requirements set forth by state statute regarding student discipline and includes the 2023 legislative updates pertaining to student discipline.

Participants will review a wide range of areas of discipline to help administrators engage in best practices when conducting investigations and documenting incidents.

This course also

  • highlights key considerations regarding special education,
  • discusses legal documents needed in the role of an administrator handling discipline, and
  • reviews mandatory vs. discretionary Disciplinary Alternative Education Programs (DAEP) placement and expulsion.
