The first half of this all-day training focuses on the Finding Wheels resource that contains strategies and activities to build independent travel skills for those with visual impairments. The second half of the day focuses on the role of the COMS in preparing students for the In The Driver’s Seat program as well as preparing students for bioptic or low vision driving in general.
Learning Objectives:
1.) Participants will explore learning activities in Finding Wheels
2.) Participants will listen to recorded, personal stories of young people related to their transportation and travel choices and experiences
3.) Participants will explore instructional areas that COMS can support to facilitate pre-driver readiness
ACVREP CEUs will be provided by Texas School for the Blind.
