Low Incidence Disability New Teacher Mini-Academy
4-Day Mini-Series:
Low Incidence Disabilities (LID) programs often go by a variety of names, including Life Skills, Functional Living Unit, Applied Learning Environment (ALE), etc. However, we all have the same goal to provide safe, exciting, and effective practices for students with significant cognitive disabilities.
In this short and sweet mini-series, we will hit briefly the major points that help you build and implement an organized, effective, and fun-filled learning environment for your students with moderate to severe disabilities including Autism, Down Syndrome, Intellectual Disabilities, Multiple Disabilities, and others.
You will be able to assess practices you are currently implementing in your classrooms as well as take away new ideas, strategies, and resources to easily incorporate immediately.
Topics will include:
January 25th & 26th
Day 1-Classroom Climate (Environment, Routine, Procedures and Culture)
Day 2-Managing Student Behavior and Communication
February 15th & 16th
Day 3-Instruction, Lesson Planning, and Standards and Alignment
Day 4-Knowledge of Students, IEP Development, and Data and Assessment/Collection
This session will take place online through Zoom. You will be sent the access link through the email address associated with your Connect 20 account.
