Important Session Information:

Translanguaging

During this professional learning participants will be able to discuss what the idea of translanguaging is and how leveraging students' full language repertoire in the classroom will impact students' learning experiences.  Using the research from Dr. Ofelia García participants will review & analyze examples of planning for translanguaging in the Bilingual/ESL classrooms. We will also focus on the differences between code-switching and translanguaging as this is a common question. The goal is for participants to engage in meaningful conversation and reflection about translanguaging and ways to create intentional learning spaces for emergent bilinguals that acknowledge the students’ full linguistic repertoire as a resource for learning.
