Important Session Information:

VIRTUAL SESSION

At what point should students become aware of any disabilities they may have, and how it could affect their academic performance, decision-making skills, and their future success beyond school? As of 2018-2019, it is required by TAC 89.1055 that self-determination be addressed during the transition process by the age of 14. Self-determination refers to the belief that individuals can control their own destiny, which is comprised of both attitudes and abilities that drive them to set goals and take the necessary steps to achieve them.

This session emphasizes the significance of teaching student's decision-making, goal-setting, and self-evaluation skills, to help them understand the importance of making informed decisions.
