Federal/State Funding
CANCELED: Virtual: High Cost Funds for Special Education

ESC-20 provides training, technical assistance and resources for complying with state and federal regulations, state monitoring systems and federal funding requirements. Monthly special education director meetings are hosted to share all relevant information.

Important Session Information:

This is an informal workshop for participants who are interested in submitting an application to TEA for a High Cost Fund (HCF) award.

High Cost Fund is an optional fund source to assist LEAs (independent school districts and open-enrollment charter schools) with expenditures for a student with a disability whose costs exceed the typical needs of a child with a disability, thus creating a financial impact on the LEA.

This will be an informal session because ESC-20 staff do not have access to open a HCF application themselves. ESC-20 staff have view-only rights once an LEA has initiated an application. Therefore, this workshop will be a hands-on, guided activity.

A TEAL/APEX account for the Nonpublic/High Cost Funds is necessary for accessing and submitting a High Cost Fund application to TEA. Participants who do not have an APEX account are encouraged to request a Nonpublic/High Cost Funds APEX account as soon as possible because it can take approximately two weeks for approval. However, participants who do not have the APEX account can still benefit from attending the workshop.
