Small Groups for Secondary School Counselors



Professional development for school counselors is aligned with the Texas Model for Comprehensive School Counseling Programs and supports work in the four service delivery components: Guidance Curriculum, Responsive Services, Individual Planning, and System Support.

Do you work with students in middle school/junior high school/high school? If so, please join us for an engaging two days focused on building and enhancing your small group counseling toolkit. Dr. Jacqueline Spiller, PhD, LPC, NCC, will facilitate parts 1 and 2 of her highly-acclaimed training. 

Part 1 (July 10): This interactive workshop will guide participants in creating activities and interventions on topics that address the challenges and needs of 6th-12th graders. Dr. Spiller will demonstrate group leader skills, practical strategies, tools, games, and sensory-based activities that can be incorporated to make school-based small groups more successful.

Part 2 (July 11): This intensive training for secondary school counselors focuses on planning and designing small groups that align with ASCA standards and ethics. This interactive training includes activities, role-playing, and techniques for launching small groups in schools.
