Professional development for school counselors is aligned with the Texas Model for Comprehensive School Counseling Programs and supports work in the four service delivery components: Guidance Curriculum, Responsive Services, Individual Planning, and System Support.

Target Audience: School Counselors and District Counseling Leaders

School counselors must negotiate the competing interests of school regulations, students' need for confidentiality, and the legal rights of parents to be the guiding voice in their children's lives. Join us as Dr. Carolyn Stone, Ed.D., discusses updates and legal rulings and provides guiding principles to support best ethical practice. Dr. Stone is a professor of Counselor Education at University of North Florida and a past president of the American School Counselor Association (ASCA). She was ASCA's Ethics Chair from 2002-2022 and oversaw the last four revisions of the ethical standards.
