Learning Offsite: Outdoor Learning- Using ANY Outdoor Space to Teach

Learning Off Site sessions will occur outside the walls of ESC-20. These sessions are facilitated with community partners and may be conducted at a number of off site locations and in a variety of content areas.

Important Session Information:

The environment is the third teacher and often student engagement is increased when students feel a strong sense of belonging and contribution to their classroom. Outdoor learning is no different. In this session, participants will learn how to foster student ownership for outdoor learning environments and ensure children see opportunity for mastery using their regularly visited spaces in meaningful ways. Participants will leave with an understanding that nature and outdoor learning environments will lead to rigorous and vigorous learning.

This session will take place at Mitchell Lake Audubon Center.

Plan to be outdoors for the majority of the day. We will meet rain or shine, please plan accordingly. (Severe weather conditions will be monitored and decisions will be made in the interest of our participants' safety.)
