RESCHEDULED:
This session will address overall communication strategies for students who are deafblind and how their communication may be unique compared to other students who are deaf or hard of hearing or students who are visually impaired only. It will include topics such as: calendar systems, interaction, routines, and specialized supports. Additionally, this session will address the importance of teaming, helpful evaluation tools for communication evaluations, writing appropriate reports, and how to take the data from these evaluations and create meaningful instruction and programming for students who are deafblind. The intended audiences include teachers of the deaf and hard of hearing, teachers of the visually-impaired, teachers of the deafblind, early childhood teachers, low incidence disability teachers, and any education team member who works with these populations.
